On Thursday, March 20, 2025,<\/strong> the central role of Italian universities was celebrated on the occasion of National University Day<\/strong>. The event, promoted by CRUI (Conference of Italian University Rectors)<\/strong> and supported by the Ministry of University and Research<\/strong>, focused on this year’s theme \u201cUNIVERCITY: Universities for the city and beyond the city.\u201d<\/strong> The focus was on university cities<\/strong>, considered hubs of innovation, growth, and sustainable development for our country. The initiative, called \u201cUniversit\u00e0 Svelate,\u201d<\/strong> involved 85 universities<\/strong> across Italy and served as an important moment for reflection and celebration for the entire university system. <\/p>\n\n

The University of Bergamo<\/strong> also participated in this day, organizing three roundtables <\/strong>with particular attention to the transformation of university territories<\/strong>. In particular, the roundtable titled “UniBg Research Hub for the Plain. Action-research in a rapidly transforming territory”<\/strong> took place this morning at the Auditorium of Cassa Rurale BCC in Treviglio<\/strong> (BG). The meeting saw the participation of Olivo Foglieni<\/strong>, President of FECS Group<\/strong>, in his role as Representative of Confindustria Bergamo for the Bergamasca Plain<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

Experts and institutions discussed the challenges and opportunities<\/strong> of transforming the territory of the middle Lombard plain<\/strong>, addressing crucial issues such as production, logistics, urban organization<\/strong> and environmental and social sustainability<\/strong>, in front of a large and very attentive audience.<\/p>\n\n

The event was made possible thanks to the collaboration with BCC Treviglio<\/strong>, the City of Treviglio<\/strong>, the Province of Bergamo<\/strong>, and Confindustria Bergam<\/strong>o. It was an important opportunity to reflect on the value of universities<\/strong> and university cities<\/strong> as strategic drivers for the progress<\/strong> and innovation<\/strong> of our territory. <\/p>\n\n
